A little book of Guidance

This is a short and easy to read book which talks about Heaven, which too many people is one of those great mysteries and we all want to know more about it and wonder if one day will we get there?

Paula Gooder explores the Bible’s teaching on Heaven and is a good book for all those who are curious about the dwelling place of God and Angels – it is for Christians and non-Christians alike – for anyone who is asking questions about what will happen when we die.

Book Review: The Blizzard Challenge by Bear Grylls

Bear Grylls, the ultimate survival expert has written a series of Children’s books where kids go on an adventure with a man named Bear.

In The Blizzard Challenge, Olly is away at camp but not happy about being there and doesn’t want to do any of the activities especially the team building events.  During one activity he walks away and goes back to his tent, but on his way there he comes across a mysterious compass in the grass and picks it up to have a look at it. He takes it back to the tent and in the middle of the night when he wakes up he looks at the compass and on touching it he ends up being in the mountains in the middle of a blizzard and meets a man named Bear.

Together Bear and Olly go on an adventure where through the hard way Olly finds out what it means to be in a team and to work together.  And when he ends up back in the real world, back at camp, everything has changed.

This is a good wee book for children, not only is it enjoyable but it is also informative.

Book Review: Erasing Hell by Francis Chan

What are the kind of things you have thought about hell or even your friends have said?

Why would a loving God send people to hell?

Will people have a chance after they die to believe in Jesus and go to heaven?

We have all asked these questions in this book, Francis Chan and Preston Sprinkle address the questions you may have about eternal destiny.  Should we believe in Hell? Is it true?

This book covers what God says - it is a book about who God is – about his character.  It takes us into the scripture and what the Bible has to say about hell.

This book was a good read and isn’t a deep theological read, it is an honest book which tries to help you find a grasp and a truth about what the Bible and God say about hell.

Book Review: D is for Dahl

D is for Dahl is a gloriumptious A to Z guide to the world of Roald Dahl.  It is not a biography but is an A to Z of amazing facts – some of them are silly, some are funny but definitely all are true.
It is a book that brings to life the world’s favourite Children’s writer and is a real treasure trove into his world.  We discover more about Roald’s favourite things, about his family and about his wonderful things.

Here are some of the facts:

The Apple – This was Roald Dahl’s nickname at home. He was the only boy of five children and the apple of his mother’s eye – that is to say her favourite.

Blue Spit – Witches’ spit is blue.  Look out for the faint blue tinge on their teeth and gums – then run.

If – If Roald Dahl hadn’t been an author, he could have been a doctor, a boxer, a golfer, an inventor, a scientist, a botanist or a picture frame.  He had a natural talent for all those things.

Random Roald Fact

His soup had to be piping hot - He hated cold or lukewarm soup and would noisily complain about it to waiters, much to the embarrassment of his children.
